Our expedition vehicle "Unimog Goes Hollywood" is a unique vehicle that was specially developed for world travelers. With a unique case, the MOGTH BOX , which allows loading into a container, it is possible to ship the Unimog inexpensively and transport it to almost any place in the world.
The low center of gravity and low air resistance created by the MOGTH BOX have resulted in excellent driving characteristics.
Every element of the MOGTH BOX of the "Unimog Goes Hollywood" is handcrafted from high-quality materials. Marine plywood, polyurethane foam boards, epoxy resin, stainless steel fittings and screws.
We only use products from well-known manufacturers to ensure that our structures can withstand the toughest conditions in the long term.
The Unimog 435, which has proven itself all over the world for decades as a stable, highly off-road capable all-wheel drive truck, was chosen as the basis. It is the most frequently built Unimog model, which is used by the military and fire services all over the world. Simple technology enables repairs to be carried out in the most remote locations without having to fly in a technician. Those who do the work here don't need a computer and Mercedes spare parts are available worldwide.
On behalf of a special customer, we set ourselves the task of developing a world travel vehicle from the originally containerizable base vehicle that can easily be driven into a container.
Without putting the case down - without any complicated disassembly!
With real living space - standing height without a roof tent construction.
So load the vehicle, ship it safely worldwide, store it safely, fly there, unload it and drive off.
specifications of the client
Our client is an experienced four-wheel drive traveler who expressly does not want to "eat up kilometers" on well-maintained roads, but wants to visit villages and landscapes around the world outside of the well-trodden routes. He avoids campsites, larger cities and RV settlements. His specifications for the motorhome are shaped by extensive experience.
Loading and transporting the entire vehicle should be easy so that long journeys or sea passages do not have to be completed under one's own steam.
The base vehicle should be in the weight class up to 7.5t. The reasons for this are the "old class 3" driving license, the frequent closure of towns or back roads for heavier vehicles and the maneuverability in off-road conditions.
Especially small, even difficult, slopes in inaccessible places should be passable.
The vehicle should blend in unobtrusively with the surroundings in particularly beautiful locations, even for days.
An attractive living space for two people with a dirt lock is essential.
The vehicle height should be as low as possible so that the route choice is not restricted by bridges, trees, balconies or low-hanging cables.
The Unimog U 1300L is the desired basis due to its high off-road capability, reliability, spare parts supply and compact dimensions.
The three seats listed in the original should, at least in theory, be retained.

Original Unimog box bearing for a stress-free connection between the body and the chassis frame. We use the Unimog bearing that has been tried and tested by the military and fire service for decades, with modifications to the original body frame.
No prefabricated elements from trailer construction are used. This means that the MOGTH BOX is not a lightweight construction but is extremely flexible and stable at the same time.
100mm thickness in the roof with walk-in boat hatches made of 11mm thick acrylic glass.
70mm in the upper part, 60mm in the lower part. Walls and roof consist of a 2mm thick GRP outer skin, closed-cell polyurethane foam panels and a 1.5mm thick GRP inner skin. Heavy-duty reinforcements are incorporated into the edges and openings.
Stable protective flaps made of GRP composite, attached on both sides, cover the entire side walls of the MOGTH BOX while driving, parking or loading. Damage caused by brushing branches, stone chips, attempted break-ins or vandalism ends on these highly stable surfaces sealed with scratch-resistant paint. All windows, doors and flaps of the MOGTH BOX are then covered by the sliding walls and the lockable protective flaps. No openings are visible or even accessible. In addition , the flaps serve as sun and rain protection when stationary.
The roof and side walls are raised using wire rope technology.
We have deliberately decided not to use spindle or linear drives here, as these would be difficult to obtain or repair at the end of the world. But that is exactly where we want to go.

Stauraum

Stauräume gibt es in vielen Schubladen, den Oberschränken der Küche und den Bänken der Sitzgruppe.

Das Gewürzregal versenkt sich automatisch beim Schliessen der MOGTH BOX, so fällt während der Fahrt nichts heraus, während des Kochens ist jedoch alles übersichtlich und leicht erreichbar.

Der Oberschrank über der Spüle ist mit Dunstabzugshaube und Beleuchtung ausgestattet.
TECHNISCHE AUSSTATTUNG
Aus langjähriger Reiseerfahrung haben wir komplett auf den Einbau einer Gasanlage verzichtet. Heizung und Kochen basieren auf hochwertigen Dieselgeräten von Wallas und Webasto. Dadurch werden Engpässe in der Versorgung, der Transport von Ersatzflaschen und Adaptern, Gasprüfungen und die Explosionsgefahr einfach eliminiert. Ohne Diesel steht das weltweite Transportwesen still, er ist weltweit oft besser verfügbar als sauberes Trinkwasser. Für den Betrieb des Kochers haben wir einen getrennten Tank verbaut, so dass dieser immer mit Diesel erster Qualität versorgt werden kann.

Heizungssystem-

Das Heizwasser kann durch die WEBASTO 5 KW Diesel-Wasserheizung und/oder während der Fahrt durch das Motorkühlwasser und/oder durch einen 2000W Elektroboiler mit Landstrom erwärmt werden.
Durch die intelligente Verlegung der Heizwasserleitungen werden die Wassertanks frostfrei gehalten.
Drei Wasser-Luft-Wärmetauscher heizen den Innenraum gleichmässig.
Nachts kann ohne Gebläsegeräusch genügend Heizleistung geliefert werden um ungestört zu schlafen.
DIe Motorvorheizung hilft schonend beim morgendlichen Starten des Motors und heizt die Fahrerkabine vor.

Unimog goes Hollywood on tour
From military to unique - the prototype is here
"I don't ask myself any more questions, I now know what I have to build!"
This is the motto of the German/Portuguese motorhome company in the south of Portugal, founded in 2016 by Andreas Schneider.

The idea: In spring '20 the question arose - is it possible to ship a Unimog as easily and safely as a DHL shipment?
In other words, a containerizable four-wheel drive motorhome with lifting roof technology,
without restrictions such as loss of standing height or comfort?!
The implementation: In autumn '21 all questions were answered and the prototype of the Goes Hollywood with MOGTH BOX was created, from the spring to the last screw.
The presentation: The prototype of Goes Hollywood has been touring Germany since summer '24.
